In addition to her work as a mediator and arbitrator, Judge Leesfield also accepts selected cases in which she consults with lawyers preparing matters for trial. Judge Leesfield’s vast backround experience as a Judge, Trial Lawyer, and now an Arbitrator/mediator makes her uniquely qualified to assist lawyers in deciding the most effective way to present their case and fact patterns. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Leesfield was the founding partner of her own law firm, and a prominent trial lawyer who tried over 60 criminal and civil cases to verdict as lead counsel, most frequently in Federal Court. She has spent her career in the courtroom and teaches Trial Skills as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School Of Law.

Judge Leesfield writes and lectures extensively on the Presentation of Expert Testimony. Her consulting concentrates on the area of presentation of these witnesses. This is the area in which she has written and spoken on numerous occasions. Other areas include: Evidence, Business Valuation, DNA evidence, Professional Ethics, Closing Argument, and the Torture Victim Protection Act–a federal law that permits victims of terrorist regimes to bring claims in state and federal court. She was an innovative jurist, dubbed “revolutionary” by the Daily Business Review for being the first judge to author a model order appointing receiver for the collection of maintenance fees in cases involving condominium owners and investors.
